Fur Sample and Allergy Testing
Fur Sample Purchase
If you suspect that you or someone in your household may have a cat allergy, we offer fur samples for purchase at $25. This can be a helpful way to test for allergies before committing to adopting a cat. Please let us know if you have any questions or would like to purchase a fur sample.
Testing with samples of fur is a useful first step in reviewing allergic reactions. Fur samples are an excellent starting point, but may not identify all reactions to secondary cat allergies.
I can send a fur samples from my Queen Serena who has Exceptionally Low allergen levels. She does also interact with the other household Siberians. These small samples of Serenas fur can be held against the face and work well. If by chance you have a severe reactions to the fur samples from a tested very- or exceptionally-low-allergen Siberian you should not purchase a cat.
Please Test in a safe room that incase you do have a bad reaction.
For allergy reasons I would advise to not place the fur on a couch or on your bed while testing.
If you have severe allergies please consult your doctor prior to fur testing with our Siberian fur.
Please keep your allergy medications on hand in case you do have a bad reaction to the fur sample.
Once you receive your Grace Siberian Forest Cat fur sample the best way to test is to place the fur on a piece of fabric or directly place it on your face.
You will want to hold the fur sample against your face for 2- 3 minutes.
Please take note of your reaction and let it lead you into the best decision for your family and self.
We do not do kitten fur samples because the results can be inconsistent until kittens are over 4 – 6 months old. Using kitten fur can cause false allergy reactions when the individual may not be allergic to an adult Siberian.
