Cat owners know how one session of petting or playing with their cat can turn a bad day into a good one. Scientific evidence also shows that a cat’s purr can calm your nervous system and lower your blood pressure.

THERAPY KITTENS

Siberians cats are a beautiful delight to have around.  Siberian cats provide more than just companionship and entertainment to families.

Siberian cats can be a tremendous  help to individuals by providing animal-assisted therapy and as emotional support in families.

There are many proven benefits of animals in therapy.  Studies have shown that when cats are present in therapy session:

  • Depressed patients were more social, they experienced a decrease in depression.

  • Children with ADHD showed increased attention spans.

  • Autistic and developmentally disabled patients became more social. Patients also showed increased attention spans.

  • Alzheimer’s individuals experienced a decreases in depression and anger symptoms.

Cats appear to have magical qualities about them.  The presence of a loving cat allows people to  emotionally open up when they otherwise might not be able.  There is nothing better then being able to leave a stressful, noisy, gathering and being able to sneak away into a quiet room with a cat. A cat allows you to snuggle and talk with it, letting your stress melt away with each stroke of her fur.  Cats can offer an emotional freeing, they open the door way to a emotionally and physical safe space to heal. Cats allow individuals to connect with another living beings in a simple, pure and honest way. They can teach us to to simply live in the moment and cast our cares away allowing us to de-stress.

We here at Grace Siberian Forest Cats embrace special-needs families. We support those in emotional transition or after trauma. Everyone is  welcome to apply for a Grace Siberian companion kitten or a started emotional therapy kitten as part of your journey toward the best your family can be.

We at Grace Siberians do ask that you have the ability to care for your new kitten if possible. We do understand that the highest-needs people in your family will not be able to have the sole responsibility for a kitten. In these instances we ask that the kitten have a guardian in place for its care. With a proper support system in place, we find that a calm, confident Siberian cat can be a vital part of your loved ones healing and wholeness.

We are honored to be chosen to be part of your journey!

Cats' soft fur, gentle purring, and rhythmic movements provide sensory stimulation that many children on the autism spectrum find soothing. Research suggests that these sensory experiences may help in reducing anxiety and improving emotional regulation.

Nature Background

According to Autism Parenting Magazine, cats help children with ASD improve their social skills.

Caring for a cat helps children with ASD learn empathy and compassion as well as teaching responsibility.

Petting a cat relieves stress and anxiety not just for the child with ASD, but the whole family!

Cats are nonjudgmental, allowing children with ASD to feel relaxed and to connect freely with their cat companion.

The interaction between child and cat improves the child’s confidence and ability to interact socially with people.

Cats have the additional advantage of being smaller than many service dogs and easier for a busy family to welcome into their home.

Cats are quieter than dogs, which is advantageous for children with noise sensitivity due to ASD.
